A downloadable game

This is a game about a group of anime teenagers that were suddenly given magical powers and the duty to protect humanity from the relentless forces of evil.

The main characters will have to deal with everything a regular anime high schooler struggles with and still find time to secretly transform into a magical warrior and stop the forces of evil from hurting people and fulfilling their master plan.

The system is based on the excellent Good Society, using simple, roleplay-focused mechanics that emphasize character growth and interpersonal relationships while giving players plenty of agency over the fate of their characters.

It is still under development, but it is fully playable in its current form and doesn't require the Good Society base game.

GAME INFORMATION

Players: 3 to 5, with no dedicated GM-like role.

Expected playtime: flexible. Ideally at least 3 or 4 sessions.

Media touchstones: mostly the Sailor Moon anime, with some inspiration from the Cardcaptor Sakura anime.

Hello

So we've played today session at the event. And I'm really amazed with this how game worked. Relationships were formed even though we've knew Sailor guardians before. So they've changed and shifted a little.

Playing with villains Death Busters was really funny. Also music from YouTube with spells and transformations really worked.

What we thought could be better is giving everyone a card with moves and mechanics of fight before session.

Anyway. I will surely play it with other group. Thanks for creating and waiting for version 1.0

I'm very happy to hear that! If you don't mind, can you tell me how well the "issues" mechanic worked in play?

Also, if you think of any more feedback, I'd love to hear it, even if it's critical. Again, thank you for playing!

So Issue mechanics wasn't so important in Sailor moon theme game. We knew already characters, so it was just additional flavours. We have tried to emphasize issues, but there were other connections and problems, and we have little time for a one session with its own scenario. So we ended up only touching some things. It could work better with made up Saviours and in campaign version. Same for villains. And we nearly not included any NPC - they were just for prey for minions.

Other things to improve. I think it works better with people with experience. My 2 players were much active than the others. And I was GM anyways , because shaping session into one episode-like session works better, when someone is doing that actively.

I think I will play it sooner than later another time, because some players are interested in it.

I want to try it next time with my group. Any tips?

Thanks for giving it a try! Can I ask some clarifying questions first?

  • Is your group used to GMless, guided freeform-style games?
  • Are you familiar with the Sailor Moon cartoon?
  • Are you playing online or in-person?

I don't know what group will choose, but GMless sounds interesting.

We know Sailor moon of course. It's mine first anime I think.

We will be playing in person

Thank you for interest

The  game is written as GMless, but if you really want, you can surely tweak it to have someone facilitate it by playing most of the minor characters and help coordinate everyone. I recommend if you use a GM to still have everyone create a villain character and have the GM create one more as their leader.

This game doesn't have printable play materials yet, so you'll have to copy a whole bunch of stuff in the first session, so I recommend you go in knowing that first session will be "session 0" and you probably won't get much story going unless you play for a long time.

If you have any specific concerns, do let me know! Also tell me how the game goes if you do end up playing it~
